Todas las subastas / Etnográfica / Burmese amber - Amber - Collection of Three Burmese Amber...

An interesting collection of three polished Burmese amber specimens containing several fossil insect and organic inclusions. The largest, rounded specimen presents a particularly rich assemblage, including multiple insects, a large well-defined wing, smaller wing fragments and botanical remains. The two oval specimens contain additional insects, delicate organic particles and naturally preserved plant material. The amber ranges from pale yellow to a deeper golden-orange colour. Its transparency allows the inclusions to be observed from different angles, while each piece has been individually shaped and polished to enhance visibility. Burmese amber, also known as Burmite, originates from northern Myanmar and dates to the mid-Cretaceous period, approximately 99 million years ago. These specimens preserve tiny fragments of an ancient forest ecosystem and offer both scientific and decorative interest. Natural internal fissures, particles, flow lines and minor surface irregularities may be present and are characteristic of fossil amber. The measuring tape shown in the photographs provides an indication of scale. The sale includes all three specimens pictured.
