LOT CONSISTING OF 3 COINS COIN 1 INDIA BRITANNICA. Bombay. 1/4 Anna. 1936. George V (1910-1936) - Value: 1/4 Anna. - Reign: George V (1910-1936). - Year: 1936. - Inscriptions: Obverse: GEORGE V KING EMPEROR. Reverse: ONE QUARTER ANNA · INDIA · 1936. - Grade: MS63 BN (NGC). Quarter-anna coin, minted in Bombay during the last year of George V’s reign. The obverse features the crowned bust of the monarch facing left, robed in ceremonial draught and decorations, according to the portrait created by Edgar Bertram MacKennal. The reverse shows the face value, the territory name and the date within a beaded border, surrounded by an elaborate composition of interlaced leaves and stems; the dot under the date identifies the Bombay mint. The specimen preserves sharp relief and attractive fields, with a predominantly brown patina and some residual coppery highlights, plus small marks consistent with the grade MS63 BN. COIN 2 INDIA BRITANNICA. Calcutta. 1/4 Anna. 1940. George VI (1936-1952) - Value: 1/4 Anna. - Reign: George VI (1936-1952). - Year: 1940. - Inscriptions: Obverse: GEORGE VI KING EMPEROR. Reverse: ONE QUARTER ANNA · INDIA · 1940. - Grade: MS64 RB (NGC). Quarter-anna coin, minted in Calcutta during the reign of George VI. The obverse presents the second portrait of the monarch, by Percy Metcalfe, with a crowned bust to the left modeled in low relief and surrounded by his imperial titulature. It corresponds to the “Short Trefoils” variety, recognizable by the short fleur-de-lis on the crown. The reverse bears the face value, the territory name and the date within a beaded border, surrounded by an elaborate vegetal ornamentation; the absence of a dot over the word ONE identifies the Calcutta issue. The specimen preserves precise relief, abundant original luster and an attractive mix of reds and browns, with scant marks consistent with the grade MS64 RB.
