Bowl - Arita - Porcelain - nineteenth century

Two Japanese porcelain Arita bowls – 19th century A refined pair of two Japanese porcelain bowls, dating from the 19th century, executed in a classic underglaze blue decoration. These bowls are representative of Japanese ceramics from the Meiji period. The bowls are decorated with graceful birds in a landscape setting, surrounded by cloud and plant motifs. The scene is applied with flowing brushstrokes, creating a lively and harmonious whole. The rim and foot show subtle geometric accents, typical of production from this period. Inside, there is a four-character mark within a double circle. The combination of form, decoration and color usage points to production in the Arita porcelain tradition, made for both domestic use and export to Europe. An elegant and collectible pair, suitable for enthusiasts of Japanese porcelain and Asian art.
