Bottega Veneta Chelsea Boots – Ardoise Suede – EU 44.5 Bottega Veneta Chelsea boots from the Tomas Maier era, crafted in Italy from soft calf suede. The colour is Bottega Veneta’s Ardoise – French for slate – a particularly nuanced, very dark shade that shifts between charcoal, almost black and deep grey-green depending on the light. A subtle and unusual colour with considerably more depth than conventional black suede. Classic, understated Chelsea construction with elasticated side panels, rear pull tabs, leather-lined interiors and discreet rubber soles. The boots date from Tomas Maier’s tenure as Creative Director of Bottega Veneta (2001–2018), a period closely associated with the house’s understated, logo-free approach to luxury. The emphasis was on materials, Italian craftsmanship and timeless design rather than visible branding, and these boots are a particularly good example of that aesthetic.
