Boonton, New Jersey. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 627. Boonton NB. Charter

A Conditional Outlier from a Popular Morris County Bank Boonton, New Jersey. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 627. Boonton NB. Charter #4274. PMG Extremely Fine 40. Unrecorded among a population of 14 pieces recorded by the National Bank Note Census. Bidders have here for their consideration what is arguably an outlier among the notes recorded on the Boonton National Bank (Charter# 4274) which had organized in 1890. Representative of the long-lived Series of 1902 which lingered into the 1920s, this lightly circulated $10 Plain Back issued around 1927 is nothing short of a sight to behold. Here neat penned signatures attributable to (Assistant) Cashier J.P. Kelley and (Vice) President John Blauvelt Howell speak to uncommon originality often lost to circulation while the contrast demonstrated between the engraved and overprinted elements of the design is truly remarkable and effectively overshadows both the "Previously Mounted" comment and this note's brief tenure in commercial channels responsible for the grade assigned. PMG comments "Previously Mounted." Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000. Click here for certification details from PMG.
