Black Chalama Opal Trailer / new- 1.54 g - (1)

Pendant Black Chalama Opal / cut / new Set in 925. Sterling silver Includes leather cord (80 cm) Weight: 7.7 ct / 1.54 g (weighed without leather cord) 14.3 mm x 8.3 mm x 5.5 mm New and unworn Black opals occur, like their differently colored counterparts, as a globular to lumpy mass with no recognizable crystal structure. Their beauty usually reveals itself only after the polishing of this piece. Characteristic for this form of opals is their opalescence, which shines in intense rainbow flashes. Additionally, the host rock of the opal here is dark, grayish to black, which gave it this name. Black opals form, just like other opals, from siliceous fluids that crystallize in sediments or volcanics. Their characteristic shimmer is due to water inclusions inside this mineral.
