Todas las subastas / Varios / Bivaga (1972) - La Melodia del Ricordo
In La Melodia del Ricordo, Bivaga presents a female figure immersed in a timeless, contemplative atmosphere. The young musician holds a lute in her hands, her lowered gaze suggesting a moment of quiet introspection. The contrast between the luminous golden drapery framing her face, the richly ornamented dark garment and the deliberately subdued background creates a theatrical and intimate composition. Warm light falls across her face, hands and instrument, directing the viewer’s attention towards her expression and gesture. The work draws upon the elegance of European portraiture and the visual language of historical painting, reinterpreting these references through Bivaga’s contemporary artistic sensibility. Music becomes an essential narrative element: not simply an object within the composition, but a symbol of memory, emotion and stories suspended in time. Through its combination of atmosphere, ornamentation and figurative detail, La Melodia del Ricordo reflects Bivaga’s ongoing exploration of beauty and narrative, transforming a seemingly quiet moment into a scene filled with an implied personal history. Oil on Canvas By Bivaga ⸻ About the artist: Agatino Bivona, known artistically as Bivaga, was born in Biancavilla, Sicily, in 1972 and currently lives and works in Adrano. A pupil and close confidant of master Antonio Sciacca, Bivaga began his artistic journey at a young age and has spent over three decades refining his unmistakable visual language. His hyperrealistic portraits, rich in symbolism and emotional nuance, have been featured in major exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Celebrated in critical publications such as I Grandi Maestri (2009), and reviewed by prominent art critics like Nicola Villari and Alfredo Pasolino, Bivaga’s works are held in private collections across Europe, the United States, and Japan — carrying fragments of Sicilian elegance far beyond its borders. — Full catalogue on www.BivagaStudio.com Instagram: @bivagastudio Curated by Havisham & Co.
