BERNHARDT (Sarah) - Lot 69

BERNHARDT (Sarah) After the Storm. [Paris], Goupil et Cie, [late 19th century]. Large photographic print reproducing the sculptural group of Sarah Bernhardt, After the Storm. At the top: “Mlle SARAH BERNHARDT.” Below the image: “Photo by Goupil & Co.,” “Phot. Goupil & Co.,” and the title *After the Storm*. The composition depicts a woman cradling the lifeless body of a young man in her arms, in a particularly dramatic scene. Sarah Bernhardt, in fact, practiced sculpture alongside her theatrical career. A very interesting print dedicated to a sculptural work by the famous actress. Very slight foxing and minor edge wear; in good overall condition.
