Beddru - Big Monstera

ARTIST: BEDDRU ORIGIN: ITALIAN WEBSITE: https://www.beddru.com/ This artwork entitled BIG MONSTERA was painted in 2022 by internationally raising, self-taught Italian artist Beddru and belongs to the artist's botanical series. In his Botanicals, Beddru captures the untamed beauty of nature through bold colours and layered textures. Each work celebrates organic forms, merging vitality and mystery in a vibrant tribute to the natural world. BIG MONSTERA is painted on premium canvas with an extra solid aluminium structure behind which ensure the best stretching over time. Beddru has carved a distinctive place in contemporary art through his conceptual exploration and bold experimentation with non-traditional materials, particularly thick, layered plexiglass panels. His figurative subjects are portrayed in an "unconformable" manner using ink-based mixed media, applied with a reverse painting technique reminiscent of 17th-century Italian masters. By developing his own variation of this method, Beddru emphasizes the use of vivid pigments to infuse his works with a signature vibrancy. In addition to plexiglass, Beddru also paints on canvas, working with oil and acrylic techniques to further expand his expressive range. His artistic inquiry often revolves around themes such as the gender gap, and he seeks to normalize perceptions of desire, pleasure, and human connection, challenging conventional narratives through visual storytelling. The viewer is drawn in by a compelling interplay of chromatic harmony and the enigmatic allure of his mythologically inspired figures. Emerging from the depths of a forgotten past, these characters carry cryptic symbols, silent messages awaiting interpretation in the present day. Beddru currently lives and works in Brussels, where he paints in his studio and regularly exhibits his work internationally. His art has been showcased in prestigious venues, including top-tier art fairs and museums, both in solo and group exhibitions. His pieces are held in prominent private collections, including those of the Saudi Royal Family and New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart.
