Beatles - Second Album (UK EXPORT) – ULTRA RARE...

An exceptionally rare UK-manufactured export pressing of The Beatles' Second Album, issued on the classic yellow-and-black Parlophone label under the unusual export catalogue number CPCS 103. Unlike the normal British Beatles catalogue, this album was based on the American Capitol configuration of The Beatles' Second Album. EMI manufactured a comparatively small quantity in Britain specifically for overseas markets, making surviving original CPCS 103 copies substantially scarcer than the standard UK Parlophone LPs. This copy carries the corrected "McCartney-Lennon" songwriting credit for Thank You Girl. The earliest labels famously misprinted Paul's surname as "McCarthy-Lennon", a mistake subsequently corrected to "McCartney-Lennon" as found here. The corrected yellow-and-black label itself is a recognised and highly collectible CPCS 103 variation. Even more remarkable are the mother and stamper codes. Using EMI's GRAMOPHLTD stamper designation, where the letter R represents stamper number 2, both sides of this copy were pressed from 1st Mother / 2nd Stamper — an extraordinarily early production combination. For an already scarce export-only LP, finding first mothers and second stampers on both sides is a genuinely exceptional manufacturing detail. A previously documented CPCS 103 with the same 1R / 1R configuration was described as having been produced among the earliest few hundred copies from the production run. ⸻ Sleeve (VG−): The original UK export sleeve remains complete but shows considerable age-related wear. Visible staining, laminate creasing and corner wear are present, together with a noticeable coffee stain to the rear. Despite these cosmetic defects, this remains the highly desirable original CPCS 103 export sleeve with its distinctive Capitol-style artwork, small stereo designation and UK Parlophone presentation. Export covers are considerably more difficult to replace than standard domestic Beatles sleeves → VG− Inner Sleeve: Original inner sleeve included. Vinyl (VG): Side 1 is the cleaner of the two, retaining good original shine but showing general playwear and some grey sheen. Side 2 shows more visible wear, including scuffs and one prominent long hairline which is not feelable. There are no major deep scratches, and playback remains good with no skips or jumps → VG ⸻ Details * UK export pressing * Parlophone CPCS 103 * Yellow and black Parlophone labels * Corrected "McCartney-Lennon" credit (Thank You Girl) * Capitol-style artwork configuration * Stereo * Made in Gt.
