Beatles - Revolver (UK) – 1st Stereo – ULTRA LOW 1P...

A particularly interesting original 1966 UK first stereo pressing of Revolver, featuring the original YEX 605-1 / YEX 606-1 matrices, the corrected "Doctor Robert" label variation and, most impressively, an exceptionally early 1 / P mother and stamper combination on Side 1. Revolver represents one of the great turning points in The Beatles' recording career. Released in August 1966, the album moved far beyond the conventional pop format with tracks such as Taxman, Eleanor Rigby, Love You To, Tomorrow Never Knows and I'm Only Sleeping, making the original UK stereo pressing one of the key Beatles records to own. This copy carries the classic black-and-yellow Parlophone labels with "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD." perimeter text and the contemporary "SOLD IN U.K. SUBJECT TO RESALE PRICE CONDITIONS, SEE PRICE LISTS" statement. The Side 2 label credits track four as "DOCTOR ROBERT"—the corrected label variation. The very earliest labels mistakenly abbreviated the title to "Dr. Robert"; Parlophone corrected this shortly afterwards while the original -1/-1 stereo lacquers were still in use. Both configurations therefore belong to the original first-pressing production period. ⸻ Sleeve (VG+): The original laminated UK sleeve remains attractive and structurally sound. The front retains good laminate sheen, with some light creasing from normal handling. The rear shows slight age-related yellowing but remains clean and presentable overall. The sleeve displays very nicely and grades a solid VG+. Vinyl (VG): The vinyl retains a very attractive original shine. Under strong light there are multiple superficial lines and hairlines visible across both sides, together with normal evidence of previous play. These are predominantly surface marks rather than deep scratches. The record has been conservatively graded VG visually. Playback is noticeably stronger than the visual appearance suggests, however, and the record plays very well overall at approximately VG+ level. ⸻ Details * UK stereo first pressing * Black-and-yellow Parlophone labels * Catalogue: PCS 7009 * "Doctor Robert" label variation (corrected spelling) * Original 1966 UK stereo mastering ⸻ Matrix / Stampers * YEX 605-1 (Side 1) * YEX 606-1 (Side 2) * Side 1: 1st Mother / P stamper (6th stamper) * Side 2: 2nd Mother / GO stamper (15th stamper) The 1 / P stamper combination on Side 1 represents an exceptionally early manufacturing production detail, particularly sought after by serious collectors of original Beatles records.
