Bauhaus Archive Berlin - Wassily Kandinsky: “From the guest book Galston, 1922”. Print: 1988 Achenbach Kunstuitgave. Offset lithograph in very good condition. After his return to Germany in late 1921, Kandinsky was invited to teach at the Bauhaus in Weimar. This was an experimental school-studio where a new educational system was applied for the training of masters. The founder, Walter Gropius, preached the idea of the synthesis of the arts, noting that painting, architecture and sculpture should be combined to create a “building of the future.” In the 1919 manifesto he stated that “the ultimate aim of all educational activity is the building!
