Banded Agate Sphere with Captivating Concentric Layers...

A Natural Masterpiece with Concentric Stripes and Perfect Polish — An extraordinary sphere made from natural agate from Brazil, characterized by a particularly rich succession of concentric bands that wrap around the entire surface. The spherical processing transforms the stone's internal structure into a small planetary landscape: parallel bands, rings and translucent veils seem to draw the atmosphere and geological layers of a distant world. Agate is a microcrystalline variety of quartz, composed mainly of chalcedony. It forms inside cavities in volcanic rocks, where silica-rich fluids slowly deposit successive layers of material. Each variation in composition, mineral concentration and crystallization conditions generates a new band. The pattern visible in the sphere thus represents the record of numerous growth phases that occurred over geologically long times. This specimen presents a refined and unusual color palette. The dominant tones oscillate between antique pink, mauve, lilac-grey, purplish-brown and pink-beige, alternating with thin white, ivory and mother-of-pearl lines. Some bands are perfectly defined and regular, others appear more rough, jagged or delicately nebulous, creating an interesting alternation between geometric precision and natural spontaneity. One of the most evocative perspectives shows a large pink circular core, surrounded by white and violaceous concentric rings. This configuration recalls the eye of a planet, an atmospheric vortex, or the section of a celestial body observed from space. By rotating the sphere, the rings gradually transform into long horizontal bands that traverse the surface like equators, atmospheric currents or ancient sedimentary layers. The presence of translucent zones allows light to partially penetrate the stone and highlight the depth of the different layers. The lighter bands acquire milky and pearly reflections, while the darker ones take on deep and velvety tones. Depending on the angle and the intensity of the illumination, the sphere changes its appearance and reveals details previously hidden. The spherical shape is particularly suited to enhance an agate of this type. The absence of edges allows the natural design to continue uninterrupted and invites observing the specimen from every direction. No side can be considered secondary: each rotation presents a new composition, transitioning from concentric structures to parallel bands, from thin luminous lines to broader and more transparent zones. From a collector’s standpoint, this sphere represents an interesting example of Brazilian banded agate, appreciable for the complexity of stratification, the color variety and the readability of silica deposition processes. Each band constitutes a page of the stone's geological history and makes the specimen absolutely unique and unrepeatable. From an ornamental point of view, it possesses the presence of a true natural sculpture. *** **Stato di Conservazione:** The lot is in good overall condition. Any irregularities, small color variations or inclusions should be considered part of the natural formation of the agate and not defects. The polishing is impeccable, highlighting the mineral's intrinsic beauty. **Dati Tecnici Finali:** Name: Banded Agate Sphere Classification: Mineral (Quartz/Chalcedony variety) Material: Natural Agate Origin: Brazil Processing: Spherical Polishing Dimensions: 88 x 88 x 88 mm Weight: 957 grams Conditions: Good Lot Code: RUA-501 SAZ-05
