It is volumes XI and XII of the collection “Bibliothèque des Mémoires relatifs à l'Histoire de France pendant le XVIIIe siècle,” each preceded by a preface of Frs. Barrière – uniform edition – Paris, Librairie de Firmin Didot Frères Imprimeurs de l'Institut, 1848 – first edition in this format – Binding: half-leather with marbled boards and endpapers, spine with gilded title, 4 raised bands and 3 false raised bands – 12.80x18 cm – Copies in good, or even very good condition: traces of use and minor wear on the boards, foxing in the body of the book, some scattered foxing on the edges, gilded spine title in excellent condition. The lot contains: - tome XI - 1848 - Memoirs of General Dumouriez - with an introduction by M. Frs. Barrière - 4+480p. - tome XII - 1848 - Continuation of the Memoirs of General Dumouriez, Memoirs of Louvet and Memoirs to Serve the History of the National Convention, by Daunou - with a notice by M. Frs. Barrière - 4+466p. * Charles-François du Périer, marquis Dumouriez (1739–1823) — known as Dumouriez or Du Mouriez — was a French general who, after early successes during the War of the First Coalition, defected to the enemy, thus committing high treason. * Jean-Baptiste Louvet de Couvray (1760–1797) was a French novelist, playwright and journalist. * Pierre-Claude-François Daunou (1761-1840) was a French politician, archivist and historian active during the French Revolution and the First Empire. Receding during the Restoration, he resumes public life during the July Monarchy. He was a deputy to the National Convention, to the Council of Five Hundred, to the Tribunate and a member of the Chamber of Peers. He was also perpetual secretary of the Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres and a professor at the Collège de France. * Jean-François Barrière (1786–1868) was a French historian. He wrote notably about the French Revolution. He served 18 years in the Prefecture of Paris, rising to division chief. He was removed from office and forced to retire following the Revolution of 1848. Envoi: bien emballé/assuré.
