An evolution of the previous 3000, the MKII is powered by a 2,912 cc inline-six engine, and only 355 units were equipped with the rare and sought-after “Three Carburettors” kit, making it the most exclusive Austin-Healey. This very rare example was also delivered new in Italy to Belluno in 1961, later sold in Florence from 1967, and it has remained with its last owner for over 58 years, preserving its original black plates and the pagine booklet. EXTERIOR The bodywork was repainted in the 1970s while maintaining the original red color scheme as per the birth Heritage. The paint remains in generally good condition with some signs of wear typical of a car that has been preserved and never restored. The car has recently undergone a polishing and detailing treatment, which has enhanced its aesthetic look. The chrome trim is in good condition and the factory details are well preserved and original. A measurement with a paint-thickness gauge showed no signs of accidents. The underbody is generally very solid and original as expected for a car kept sheltered. INTERIOR The interior is original, preserved and never restored, with a beautiful patina of time. The dashboard retains the original instruments of the era, including the rare steering wheel. The convertible top is present and complete as are the various details. The cabin has recently undergone a thorough sanitization while preserving the car’s maximum originality. MECCANICA The car is equipped with the original engine as reported by the birth-number on the chassis. The engine is in good condition, has recently been started again with a new battery, starts easily, and the car can be driven on private property. However, the technical inspection expired many years ago and a normal routine maintenance before the next inspection may be required, for example the brakes and tires are hardened.
