AUGUST ACHILLES (GERMAN 1798-1861) VON ROSENS DUCK HUNTING Oil on canvas 59 x 89cm (23 x 35in.) Provenance: Sale, Secher Scott, Copenhagen, Modern Paintings, Fine Art, Furniture and Design, 16 November 2010, lot 94 Condition Report: The canvas has been lined. Heavy craquelure throughout which needs some attention as there are some areas which are starting to lift. There are also some light spots of loss scattered throughout. Some light discolouration to the sky area, together with some light patches of surface dirt. Rubbing and abrasions to the framing edges. Light surface scratches throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered retouching and in-filling throughout. In addition there appears to be a repaired right-agnled tear (approx. 10 x 10cm) in the lower left quadrant. Just above this is a further area of restoration (approx. 4cm diameter). Furthermore there is a more heavily concerntrated area of over-paint to the riverbank in the lower left corner. With traces of a light layer of varnish.
