Aug. Moreau (1834 - 1917) - Sculpture

Beautiful sculpture by the French artist August Moreau; Moreau studied at the "École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts" in Paris. Moreau had remarkable artistic talent. He is regarded as one of the leading representatives of Art Nouveau, with graceful, realistic and highly detailed sculptures. His favored theme was young girls in swirling translucent garments. This fine sculpture is crowned with a gold medal. With great attention to detail, the artist has crafted this lovely sculpture. The sculpture is signed by the artist on the base and the piece bears a plaque with the title of the work "Amour Combattant". His work was first exhibited at the Paris Salon ("Salon des artistes Français") in 1861. He continued exhibiting there until 1913. In addition, he was present at the various world exhibitions in Paris. The lot is carefully packaged and sent by registered mail. Photos give you a good impression of this beautiful sculpture.
