Art Deco Toilet set (3) - Longwy - Porcelain

Longwy – Art Deco 3-piece vanity set in polychrome faience – circa 1920–1930 Old and elegant vanity set in faience from Longwy, France, dating probably from the Art Deco period, around 1920–1930. Set composed of three matching pieces: a large toilet basin, a large jug with handle, and a rectangular soap dish. Very beautiful geometric and stylized floral decoration characteristic of the Art Deco era, rendered in cobalt blue, orange/brown and green on an ivory background, with ochre side borders. The large basin bears on the reverse the crowned escutcheon mark LONGWY, proving the manufacture. A beautiful decorative ensemble representative of the toiletries used in bedrooms at the beginning of the 20th century, before the widespread adoption of modern bathrooms. Condition: good overall antique condition with signs of use and minor age-related imperfections. The soap dish shows an old crack that is visible and photographed. The basin and the jug present a fine overall appearance. Manufacturer: Longwy Origin: France Material: fine glazed faience Style: Art Deco Estimated period: circa 1920–1930 Number of pieces: 3
