From 1967 he worked in winter in Paris and in summer in Cuenca/Spain, whereby for 10 years he gave up painting on canvas in favor of work on paper. In 1975 the Maeght Gallery in Barcelona presented a retrospective of works on paper, in 1977 he participated in Documenta VI in Kassel. In 1979 retrospectives followed with over 300 works on paper, including at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, the Kunsthalle of Düsseldorf and the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona.
