Antonio Rossi - Il profumiere - 1922

Originally issued in 1902 as the "Manual of the Perfumer" (with 700 recipes), the volume was so successful that a second edition appeared in 1914 and this third edition in 1922, significantly expanded to reach no less than 800 practical recipes spread over more than 660 pages. The Hoepli Manual series has established it as one of the era’s most authoritative reference texts for artisans and industrial chemists. The manual stands out for its extremely practical approach, serving as a true "behind the scenes" look at the laboratory of the time. The work covers, in 360 degrees, the manufacture of products related to hygiene, aesthetics, and personal care, including: • Alcoholic perfumery: extracts, cologne waters, essences, and fragrant vinegars. • Cosmetics and facial care: creams, ointments, powders, and cosmetics. • Daily hygiene: formulas for very fine soaps, toothpastes, powders, and hair lotions. Today the book is a highly sought-after collectible on the antiquarian market, valued both for its documentary significance and for the charm of its period editorial binding.
