This is a beautiful pair of large antique oil on canvas seascape paintings, 'The incoming tide; and Catching the breeze' and each signed lower right by the notable British artist Gustave De Bréanski (1856-1898). One painting features a fishing boat in choppy waters, the other a fishing boat unloading the catch The artist has used a very delicate palette of colours and has succeeded in adding some mystery to the scenes. Several examples of his work have sold at top auction houses: Provenance: Sold at Christies South Kensington London, 17 March 2010: Victorian and British Impressionist Pictures Gustave De Bréanski (1856-1898) The incoming tide; and Catching the breeze Price realised GBP 6,800 including buyers premium Condition: In really excellent condition the paintings and frames having been beautifully cleaned, please see photos for confirmation.
