This is a very beautiful antique Chinese gentleman's silver-mounted walking stick, circa 1870 in date and bearing impressed Chinese marks The exquisite L-shaped Chinese silver handle is superbly decorated with prunus blossom and bamboo, with Chinese good-fortune character marks The handle is directly mounted on a splendid, ebonised hardwood shaft. 壽 / 寿 (shòu) — longevity, long life. This is a very common auspicious symbol, especially on objects intended as gifts or household decorations. 福 (fú) — good fortune, blessing, happiness. One of the most common Chinese auspicious characters. 禄 / 祿 (lù) — prosperity, wealth, especially success and material well-being. Traditionally associated with official rank and prosperity. 喜 (xǐ) or another auspicious character — happiness/joy. The carving is too worn for me to be completely certain here. Add an extravagant element to your daily life with this wonderful walking cane. Size of cane that you needConvert your height into inches. For example, if you are 5' 10” in your shoes, your height is 70 inches. Divide by two and then add ½ inch to determine your approximate cane size.
