This pendant features the typical sinuous Art Nouveau shapes of the turn of the century. Two leaves spring from a pearl and sweep out to the sides. Underneath, a single long, curved line forms a heart. The entire design is set with natural pearls. The delicate lustre of the pearls harmonizes with the tone of the gold without being overpowering, so that the pieces of jewellery could also be worn during the day at the time it was created. The lady of the world wanted to be appropriately adorned at all times, but she did not choose a richly sparkling piece of jewellery with a magnificent diamond setting for daytime wear: pearls and gold, sometimes accentuated with colored stones, were more appropriate. At the time the piece of jewellery was created, the usual gold alloy had a slightly reddish tone, so that almost all pieces of jewellery were given an additional fine gold surface to obtain the coveted warm, matt yellow gold tone. Our pendant also has this typical gold tone, which is only achieved through fine gold plating. It is in very good condition. We discovered it in London and added a new chain.
