The color of amethysts is as unique as it is seductive when it comes to gemstones - but legend has it that this gemstone is supposed to protect against seduction. The ancient Greeks said that cups made of amethyst prevented people from becoming intoxicated by wine. The amethyst in this pendant is a clear, delicate violet color. The drop-shaped, faceted gemstone is held by a simple bezel setting surrounded by a shadow gap and adjoined by an openwork frame set with natural pearls. The frame has a multi-faceted design and holds a simple eyelet that leads to a delicate anchor chain. The pendant was created in England in the c. 1900s, as its hallmark reveals. The loop and chain were later renewed in Germany. It came to us from the Rhineland.
