Antique American Pieced Quilt Textile, 19th century - 6 ft 2 in x

Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Antique American Pieced Quilt Textile, 19th century Size: 6 ft 2 in x 5 ft 4 in (1.88 m x 1.63 m) Provenance: International Quilt Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln An engaging American quilt reflecting the transformation of carefully selected fabric into a highly personal geometric composition. American quilts served practical domestic purposes while also providing makers with an important medium for artistic expression. Variations in printed fabric, color, and hand stitching preserve evidence of individual choices and the period in which the quilt was created. Its manageable size makes it particularly suitable for wall display, where its construction and design can be appreciated as textile art.
