Bronze Celtiberian annular brooch — 4th–1st centuries BCE. Culture: Celtiberian, Late Iron Age. Dating: 4th–1st centuries BCE. Cultural provenance: Iberian Peninsula, pre-Roman Celtiberian sphere. Material: Bronze. Description: Interesting Celtiberian annular brooch made of bronze, belonging to the tradition of adornment and clothing elements used by the pre-Roman peoples of the Iberian Peninsula during the Late Iron Age. This type of brooch is characterized by its annular structure and its needle system, designed to fasten garments, especially mantles and cloaks. The brooches constituted important elements of Celtiberian dress, combining a practical function with ornamental and social-significance value. This type of piece is widely documented in archaeological sites on the Plateau and the Ebro valley, in both settlements and funerary contexts associated with Celtiberian communities. Historical context: The Celtiberian culture achieved notable artisanal development in bronze and iron metallurgy. Their brooches represent one of the most characteristic testimonies of pre-Roman dress and material culture, in a period marked by the rise of the great oppida and the first contacts with Rome.
