Antieke meerschuimen pijp met bijpassende etui –...

Antique meerschaum pipe with matching case – Brussels address imprint – circa 1900–1920 An elegant testimony to historical smoking culture: this meerschaum pipe immediately catches the eye with its slim silhouette, tall bowl and rich color variations. Honey yellow, warm orange and deep reddish brown mingle beautifully and give the object a distinctly well-worn look. The elongated stem and the reddish-brown, translucent mouthpiece form a harmonious whole. The understated design lets the material and the warm hues speak for themselves. Meerschaum, also known as sepiolite, is a light mineral that is easy to work with and has a long tradition in pipe making. It is precisely the combination of material, form and well-presented presentation that makes such pipes attractive to collectors. Special detail: the Brussels case The pipe comes in a precisely fitting, shaped case with a dark outer covering, velvety interior and blue fabric in the lid. In gold-colored letters it reads: “FAB. DE PIPES 14 BOUL. ANSPACH (BOURSE) BRUXELLES” This address imprint beautifully connects with Brussels pipe trading and adds extra historical charm to the whole. The mention on the case is not independent proof that the pipe was made in Brussels. A atmospheric collectible for lovers of antique pipes, historical smoking accessories and Belgian trade history.
