[ANONYMOUS]. — *The Libertine Tartuffe, or The Triumph of Vice*. Paris, Séguier, “Carré Chair” series, No. II, [1991]. Small 8vo, paperback, cover lined with red paper, title printed in black. Reprint of an anonymous libertine novel, with an introduction by Dorelies Kraakman. The publisher notes that, with the exception of a few corrected typographical errors, the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of the original edition have been preserved. The story features Valentin de Saint-Gérand, a hypocritical and depraved libertine whose success illustrates, in a satirical manner, the “triumph of vice” announced by the title. The work belongs to the tradition of French libertine and anticlerical literature. Second volume of the “Carré Chair” collection, published by Séguier and devoted to early libertine and erotic texts. ISBN 2-84049-077-7. Very good copy, pristine interior. Very slight marks on the cover; bookstore price tag on the back cover (75 F).
