A new volume in the prestigious collection of Historical Yearbooks published by the Société de l’Histoire de France, founded during the July Monarchy to promote the critical study of national historical sources. True working tools for 19th-century scholars, these volumes bring together chronologies, biographical entries, administrative lists, royal genealogies, and diplomatic and historical information concerning France and the major European courts. This volume, compiled for the year 1841, offers an interesting glimpse into the early days of French historical scholarship and illustrates the methods of classification and documentary synthesis developed before the advent of major modern historical dictionaries. A copy bound in burgundy half-maroquin in the Bradel style, with a smooth spine bearing the title in gold lettering. The paper is uniformly browned with some foxing and signs of wear. The original bookmark is preserved. The binding is in fine condition. The interior is in good condition despite the browning.
