Vintage Angelus Bi-Compax Chronograph – In-House Caliber Angelus 215 Splendid and rare vintage Angelus chronograph dating from around the mid-1950s. Founded in 1891 in Le Locle, Switzerland, the Maison Angelus is historically recognized among the most prestigious manufacturers of the golden era of mechanical watchmaking for the quality of its in-house chronograph calibers, such as the famous 215 and 217, today highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Dial: classic Bi-Compax configuration with two sub-dials, professionally restored, preserving excellent legibility and fidelity to the period aesthetics. Three scales rich in details: tachymetric scale (red/black on the outside) for average speed, telemeter for distance calculation, and peripheral minute track well defined. Indices with stamped Arabic numerals of exquisitely retro flavor and distinctive browned hands in Syringe/Skeleton style with patinated tritium-filled lume, which give great character to the watch. Case and caseback: stainless steel, diameter ~36 mm (excluding crown), generous and elegant for the era; lug-to-lug 46 mm, slim thickness of 11.8 mm. Carrure and bezel in good conservative condition, with original lug lines and light, honest signs of wear. Snap-on caseback with Angelus mark and external serial engraved (227161): shows wear and more pronounced nicks/pitting compared to the case, while maintaining full legibility of the marks. Inside stamped "Angelus Watch Co – Swiss – Acier Inox". Chronograph pushers with gilding, crown in generic steel, Plexiglas crystal in generally good condition. Caliber: rare and valuable Angelus 215 from manufacture, manual-wind mechanical, 17 jewels, column-wheel operation, frequency 18,000 A/h. Strap: brown leather (used) with steel pin buckle, generic. High-resolution photographs form an integral and essential part of the description, allowing an accurate assessment of the condition of every detail.
