Title: Still life with fruit, pumpkin and ceramic jug School: Spanish (20th century) Author: Andrés Carceller Núñez Style: Hyperrealism / Figurative realism Technique: Oil on canvas ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is inscribed in the Spanish still life tradition, reinterpreted from a realist and hyperrealist sensibility typical of the 20th century. The abundant arrangement of fruits and vegetables, the individualized study of their textures, and the construction of volumes through light and shadow refer to the long naturalist tradition of Spanish painting. There is also an academic conception of the still life, with particular interest in descriptive fidelity, chromatics, and the materiality of the represented objects. Andrés Carceller Núñez is a painter linked to the Spanish figurative tradition, whose body of work is characterized by particular attention to drawing, to the treatment of light, and to the meticulous representation of objects. In works like this still life, the interest lies in reproducing the different material and chromatic qualities of fruits, vegetables, and ceramics within classical-style compositions. Still life with a broad, abundant composition centered on a large bluish-green pumpkin in the middle of the scene. Around it are distributed numerous fruits and vegetable products, including clusters of green and red grapes, pomegranates, apples, lemons, onions, garlic, and a cut melon that allows the interior to be viewed. ㅤ On the left side appears a white ceramic jug decorated with blue and green floral motifs, an element that introduces an ornamental counterpoint to the organic shapes of the whole. The composition is completed with abundant vegetation and grapevine leaves in the upper area, while in the background a low-horizon landscape and blue-tinged mountains open up. ㅤ The artist pays special attention to representing the different surfaces: the rough skin of the pumpkin, the transparency and shine of the grapes, the polished surface of the apples, the moist interior of the cut fruit, and the glazed ceramic of the jug. The lighting helps define the volumes and provides depth to the whole, while the variety of greens, ochres, yellows, and reddish tones creates a richly and harmoniously chromatic composition. ㅤ The work is signed by the artist in the lower left corner. The painting is presented with a gold wooden frame of a classical character, composed of several stepped mouldings and stylized vegetal decorations in the corners. Its gold finish and traditional design complement the figurative nature of the work. The frame may show slight signs of use and aging consistent with the passage of time. ㅤ Observations: The work is presented matted/framed. The condition should be assessed based on the provided photographs, which form part of the lot description. ㅤ The work may incur damages during transport even with proper packaging. In that case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. ㅤ Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, oversized dimensions, or weight of the item.
