Rustic binding with marbled paper on the back. Title and author handwritten on the back and on the lower edge. 2 white leaves, [4], 365, 2 white leaves FIRST EDITION. The text represents an important milestone in the history of Venetian medicine in the eighteenth century. In this treatise, Andrea Fasuol firmly defended the clinical efficacy and the necessity of resorting to the practice of bloodletting (phlebotomy) to treat patients affected by syphilis (at the time called "lue venerea") admitted to the important Ospedale degli Incurabili of Venice. The work originated as a polemical and scientific response to another treatise of the era written by Professor Simon Tosio, entitled Il salasso liberato, which adopted more critical and restrictive positions regarding the use of this medical practice. Vignette on the title page. Numerous decorated initial letters throughout the volume. Ex libris applied to the first guard. Worm tracks from p. 137 to p. 199. Moreover, very clean leaves, complete copy and in good conservation state.
