Magnificent copy of the comprehensive edition of André Malraux's novels, published by Gallimard (NRF) in 1951. This remarkable work brings together the author's major texts (Les Conquérants, La Voie royale, La Condition humaine, L'Espoir, Le Temps du mépris, Les Noyers de l'Altenburg). This volume is distinguished by its superb publisher's cloth binding made after the original design by master binder Paul Bonet, featuring an elegant abstract decoration in polychrome arabesques typical of his NRF creations. ** Illustrations : - Illustrations hors-texte: Illustrated edition of 32 watercolors and gouaches hors-texte reproduced with great finesse by the Imprimerie Lang in Paris, created by the painter and engraver Édy Legrand. - Also contains in the frontispiece a portrait of André Malraux drawn by Fontanarosa. ** Tirage et Numérotation : - Print run limited to 15,250 copies. - This copy bears number 6943, part of the 15,000 numbered copies on vellum. - Completed printing: 13 September 1951. ** État de conservation : - Binding: In very good condition. The decorative boards by Paul Bonet retain all the freshness of their original colors. Corners sharp, headcaps intact, spine well structured. - Interior: Interior very fresh, free of foxing, paper bright and clean. Perfectly maintained gathering and binding. Note: small stains/minor signs of use and natural aging of time are visible on the lower inner edge of the back flyleaf (Please consult all photos which are an integral part of the description).
