Roman Imperial Glass Unguentarium – 1st to 3rd Century AD A Roman Imperial glass unguentarium with a tall, slender cylindrical neck, flared rim and rounded bulbous body, a characteristic form used for storing perfumes, scented oils, cosmetics and medicinal preparations. The vessel is made of translucent amber-toned glass and preserves extensive iridescence, mineral deposits and surface weathering developed through long-term burial. The elongated proportions and simple elegant profile are typical of Roman glass vessels produced and circulated throughout the Empire during the 1st to 3rd Century AD.
