Batch of four terracotta figures Storytellers / musicians, Sichuan tradition Interesting set formed by four Chinese terracotta figures, expressive and with a strong popular character, traditionally linked to representations of storytellers, performers or musicians from the Sichuan region. The pieces show seated figures with caricatured features and great expressive power, with prominent bellies, arms drawn to the chest and, in one specimen, an arm raised suggesting a gesture of performance or stage accompaniment. The volumetric modeling, formal spontaneity and vivid expressions give the set a special appeal, evoking the world of popular entertainment and everyday life in ancient China. This type of figures is especially valued for their sculptural presence, narrative character and ability to function as a highly distinctive decorative grouping. The heterogeneity of their expressions and finishes enhances the lot’s interest, both aesthetically and for collectors. The surface shows signs of wear, erosion, concretions, losses and traces of polychromy or slip, aspects consistent with the archaeological nature and the age attributed to this type of terracottas. The pieces are offered as a single lot, a circumstance that increases their visual impact and commercial potential. Description Batch of four Chinese terracotta figures, probably linked to the Sichuan tradition, identified as storytellers and/or musicians. Approximate dimensions 30 × 20 × 16 cm each approx. (There may be slight variations between pieces.) Condition Wearing, abrasions, surface losses, concretions, erosion and general wear consistent with their typology and age.
