An early Victorian engraved gilt brass strut timepiece, by Thomas Cole for Tessier & Sons, signed below the dial and to the back of the case, by Thomas Cole for Tessier & Sons, 32 South Audley Street, Grosvenor Square, London, with an eight-day English lever escapement movement, rectangular silvered dial with Roman numerals and elaborate foliate engraved ground, fine blued steel hands, bevelled glass panel with rounded top corners, the case with engraved border, hinged suspension loop pivoted between shaped bracket upstands also decorated with foliate motifs, folding strut foot, the underside stamped 738, 14cm high overall, central pivoting foot, 8.5cm wide.
