Alfa Romeo - GT 1300 Junior ( 2.0 Motor ) - 1973

Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior ‘Bertone’ – 1973 Restored | 2.0-liter Twin Cam | dual Weber carburetors | 1750 transmission | locked differential GENERAL This 1973 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior combines the classic Bertone coachwork with a modified drivetrain and a tuned suspension. A specimen for the enthusiast who does not seek solely factory originality but also values the technical build. The car has been restored in the past. The bodywork was completely repainted and the interior was updated as well. The original 1300 engine has been replaced with a 2.0-liter Alfa Romeo Twin Cam four-cylinder, paired with a manual 1750 transmission and a locked differential. In addition, different springs and shock absorbers have been installed and the car sits on widened steel wheels. The current specification features a dark burgundy body and a brown interior. Chassis number: AR1287434. The car is being offered explicitly as a restored and technically modified GT 1300 Junior, not as a fully factory-original or matching-numbers specimen. There are various signs of use and technical points of attention described below. BODYWORK & PAINT The body was repainted during the restoration in the current dark burgundy color. The paint appears glossy in the photos but is not free from damage. In the right door there are two small dents. Additionally, there are local scratches, paint chips and damage to panel edges. The close-up photos show paint damage near a turn signal, traces around a door handle and damage to a door edge. The driver’s door does not close properly. The latching and fit require attention; the necessary restoration work has not been determined. The widened steel rims are part of the car’s modified specification. The known cosmetic defects have been photographed separately, so the current state does not have to be judged solely from the overview photos. MECHANICAL The car is equipped with a 2.0-liter Alfa Romeo Twin Cam engine. The stated engine number is AR00515 000518. This engine is a replacement for the original 1300 powerplant. The carburation consists of two double Weber carburetors. On both photographed carburetor caps is the type designation 40 DCOE 32, with the numbers 101486 and 99497 respectively. Both carry the inscription “Made in Italy.” On the inlet side are four separate metal intake trumpets with mesh screens. Further technical modifications include a manual 1750 transmission, a locked differential and different springs and shock absorbers. Together with the widened steel wheels, this configuration differs from the original GT 1300 Junior version. Multiple photos of the underside are available, showing the floor, rear axle, suspension and exhaust system. Parts of the underbody have a protective coating. Some metal components and fasteners show localized oxidation. The carburetors and their mounting hardware also show signs of use and age. The mention of restoration does not automatically mean that the engine, gearbox and carburetors have been completely rebuilt. Such a rebuild and an up-to-date engine power are not offered as substantiated features. The ignition switch is defective and requires repair. The car is offered with this known mechanical issue. INTERIOR The interior was also updated during the restoration. The brown upholstery of the front seats and rear bench forms a calm combination with the dark burgundy body. The visible upholstery appears well-maintained in the supplied photos. The rear vent/glass windows are loose and need to be properly secured. In the photos one rear side window shows a provisional tape repair. The mounting, closure and sealing therefore require attention. As with the exterior, this is a used classic, not a car without signs of use or finishing work. DOCUMENTS The stamped chassis number and the type designations on both Weber carburetors are photographically documented. The stated engine number is included in this description. An exact restoration date, the original factory color and the provenance of the replacement engine are not stated as established facts. The current color, apparent specification and technical modifications are described as the car is offered today. PICK-UP The car is located at Volt & Vroom in Groningen, the Netherlands. Viewing and pickup can be arranged by appointment. Given the defective ignition switch and the other mentioned points of attention, the current starting capability, drivability and method of transport must be discussed before pickup. The car is not offered in this description as fully roadworthy. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This Alfa Romeo is of interest to a enthusiast looking for a classic Bertone with a 2.0-liter engine, twin Weber carburetion and a modified drivetrain, and who is willing to address the remaining restoration and finishing tasks. The main known points of attention are the defective ignition switch, the loose rear vent windows, the poorly closing driver’s door, the two dents in the right door and the photographed paint damage and signs of use. Carefully review both the overview photos and the detail shots. It is advisable to arrange a viewing in advance to personally assess the bodywork, technical modifications and required work.
