I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of tiny pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. Series "Not your doll" - In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have made. On these small pieces of paper you can read words and phrases scattered here and there. It often happens this way when we really approach another person: sometimes we perceive their secret messages, sometimes not. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to depict female faces with features reminiscent of the most classical dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do with me what you want" with all that lies behind, up to, unfortunately, violence. The surface features small reliefs and I like to caress it, to feel it... I also use acrylic resin on the surface, which gives a glossy effect and protects the colors from sunlight and dust. This work is unique and original. Each work is securely packed, wrapped, and protected for worldwide shipping, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. I use the courier provided directly by Catawiki and a tracking number will be supplied. This work will be shipped unframed and unstretched as it will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the greater surface will be useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long hiatus lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I returned to the “two dimensions” for time and space reasons, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real. For me painting is to "freeze time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are street corners of walls also eroded by time, with moss and fungi that - over time - grow on the surface. The passage of time is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceptible both by touch and to the naked eye. Recently, after several years in which my works were made from small pieces of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical rigor that up close seem to form a colorful abstract painting but the farther you go, the more a portrait emerges from the many painted wooden discs. Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or the courage to report that they are not their partner’s dolls and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
