Artwork no.574 Dimensions: 85,00 x 85,00 (cm) I create paintings using acrylic paints and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the latest pieces I have completed. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent the faces of women with features that recall the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do whatever you want with me" together with everything that lies behind, which unfortunately leads to violence. *** This work is unique and original. Each piece is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for worldwide shipping, with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity. A tracking number is provided for the shipment. This work will be shipped without frame and without stretchers as the piece will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the greater surface area will be useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advised to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on a suitable frame if needed. After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a prolonged pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes, but recently I have been pushing myself to also paint faces of people, both imagined and real. For me, painting is about "freezing time" in that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and thus my works are "consumed, eroded by time". Sometimes the subject of my paintings are views of walls, also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that - over time - grow on the surface. Time passing inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with manipulating clay, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs well perceptible by both touch and sight. Recently, after several years in which my works were made from bits of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical rigor that up close seem to form a colorful abstract painting, but the more you move away the more a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs.
