Artwork no.575 Dimensions: 85.00 x 85.00 cm I create paintings using acrylic paints and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the most recent pieces I have created. "Not your doll" - "I am not your doll" is a series where I intend to represent the faces of women with features reminiscent of classic dolls, and the message is: "even though I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, your doll, and you can do whatever you want with me" with all that lies behind it, up to, unfortunately, violence. *** This work is unique and original. Each work is safely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipping worldwide, with an included Certificate of Authenticity. A tracking number is provided for the shipment. This piece will be shipped without a frame and without a stretcher, as the work will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the greater surface will be useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advised to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise on a suitable frame if appropriate. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the artwork's value. Born in 1974 I am self-taught. After an initial period dedicated to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I resumed with the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, leaving sculpture aside and devoting myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I’m pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is "locking time" in that exact moment; my painting is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "consumed, eroded by time". Sometimes the subjects of my paintings are glimpses of walls also eroded by time, with moss and fungi that—over time—grow on the surface. The passing of time is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are easily perceivable by touch as well as to the naked eye. Recently, after several years during which my works were produced from bits of recycled paper forming figures, I have started exploring Optical Art where I use painted wooden disks arranged in lines and grids with mathematical precision that up close may look like a colorful abstract painting, but as you step back a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden disks.
