Artwork no.643 Dimensions: 90.00 x 90.00 cm I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper becomes art instead of ending up in the trash. In my latest works I have focused on the theme of women treated as objects (dolls) and too often victims of violence, and these are the last pieces I have created. "Not your doll" - "Not my doll" is a series where I intend to represent the faces of women with features that echo the most classic dolls and the message is: "even if I look like a real doll, I am not a doll, you can’t do what you want with me" with all that lies behind it, up to, unfortunately, violence. *** This work is unique and original. Each work is securely packed, wrapped and protected for shipment worldwide, with the Certificate of Authenticity included. A tracking number is provided for the shipment. This work will be shipped without a frame or stretcher as it will be shipped rolled. The canvas is larger than the painted dimensions because the larger surface will be useful and necessary to stretch the canvas on a frame. It is advisable to have the work stretched and mounted by a trusted professional who can also advise you on a suitable frame if needed. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. The amount should be between 10% and 20% of the art value. Born in 1974, I am self-taught. After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long pause lasting almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I have resumed with the "two dimensions" due to time and space reasons, leaving sculpture aside and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings. I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people, both imaginary and real. For me painting is "freezing time" in that precise moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and therefore my works are "worn, eroded by time." Sometimes my paintings depict stretches of walls also eroded by time, with moss and mushrooms that – over time – grow on the surface. Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works. Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch, and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs that are perceptible to the touch as well as to the naked eye. In recent times, after several years in which my works were made from little pieces of recycled paper that formed figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wooden discs arranged in lines and grids with mathematical rigor; up close they look like a colorful abstract painting, but the more you move away, a portrait emerges from the 768 painted wooden discs.
