Works to include Street Vendors of Vegtables, Dublin; The Night Walkers, Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin; Looking in the Water, Except One, Dublin; Forbidding Gates, North Side, Dublin; and Children Playing, Back Street, Dublin. Image size 11 x 16 1/2 in.; Sheet size 13 x 19 in. Duplicate Prints and Photographs from Davidson College, Sold to support new acquisitions. Alen MacWeeney (Irish, b. 1939) is a photographer known for his evocative black-and-white images documenting Irish life, particularly the country's landscapes, rural communities, and traditional culture. His celebrated photographs of Irish Travellers, made during the 1960s, offer an intimate record of a community undergoing profound social change. His work is held in major collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Very good condition; few minor corner sheet bends.
