Alberto Magnelli (1888-1971) - Papier collé sur fond bleu (1957)

Magnificent original stencil by Alberto Magnelli, a major historic figure of geometric abstraction in the 20th century. This vintage print faithfully captures the spirit of the artist's characteristic collages and glued papers (papiers collés). The work from the Jacomet workshop offers a superb rendering of material with dense gouache flats, a play of textures imitating jute canvas and geometric contrasts on a deep blue background.
