An important traditional currency piece cast in a copper alloy, consisting of a pierced central ring surrounded by four peripheral protrusions. Due to its substantial mass and solid craftsmanship, this piece appears more like a prestige currency or a store of value than a jewelry object. In several West African societies, this type of object could participate in ceremonial exchanges, dowries, or the symbolic circulation of wealth.
