Aesthetic crystals of limonitized pyrite

From our selection of collectible minerals we present a splendid group of pyrite crystal from the Elva Valley Mine, in Piedmont. Additionally, it is characterized by numerous pentagon-dodecahedral crystals of limonitized pyrite, with the typical brown-copper color due to superficial alteration, arranged in dense aggregates well distributed on the matrix, which increase its aesthetic value and mineralogical importance. The sample stands out for the quality of crystallization and for the overall aesthetic balance, with features that enhance its natural structure and visual impact. Pyrite crystallizes in the cubic system and the pentagon-dodecahedral habit, also known as pyritohedron, is one of the most sought-after and recognizable forms of this species. The brown-copper color coating these crystals is due to limonitization, a surface alteration process that transforms iron sulfide into oxides and hydroxides, modifying its original metallic appearance. The Elva Valley area, in Cuneo, is known among collectors for yielding pyrite in well-formed crystals on a quartz matrix. This is an ideal specimen for mineral collections, display, and for those who appreciate the natural beauty of minerals, including in the realm of crystal therapy and lithotherapy, according to the properties traditionally associated with the mineral species. All minerals are 100% natural and untreated, except for rare exceptions always indicated in the description. The photographs are taken with professional lighting to best enhance colors and details; however, slight variations in shade may occur depending on the device or ambient light.
