Todas las subastas / Arte contemporáneo / Adri Q - XL - Ecos de Medianoche
Adri Q is a young Afro-Cuban artist born in Cuba who currently resides and works in Alicante, Spain, living and working in El Campello, Alicante, whose painting arises from the encounter between illustration, geometry, and a deeply contemporary sensibility. Through acrylic on canvas, she has developed a recognizable visual language, characterized by the use of intense colors, flat surfaces, geometric structures, and a rich succession of graphic patterns that turn each composition into a dynamic and easily identifiable universe. Her work moves freely between figuration and abstraction. At times it starts from recognizable scenes — musicians, women, dancers, Mediterranean landscapes, animals, or characters belonging to the collective imagination — to then fragment them and reconstruct them through chromatic blocks, visual rhythms, and decorative elements. In others, geometry takes on greater prominence and the figure seems to emerge from the color’s very structure. One of the most interesting traits of her work is precisely this ability to maintain a constant identity within a very broad theme. The Mediterranean, music, nature, literature, fantasy, and daily life coexist within the same plastic universe. Her scenes can be intimate, playful, or contemplative, but almost always maintain a sense of optimism, movement, and luminosity. Color functions not only as a decorative element: it is one of the main emotional drivers of her painting. Deep blues, reds, yellows, violets, and turquoises are combined through direct contrasts and clearly defined surfaces, generating compositions with strong visual impact. In her musical works, for example, geometry seems to become rhythm; in her Mediterranean landscapes, light; and in the fantastical scenes, a door to an imaginary world. The works currently circulating on Catawiki also show a good reception within the accessible contemporary art market. Her compositions have been selected by different experts on the platform, and pieces with themes as varied as jazz, Mediterranean scenes, or fantastical figures maintain a perfectly recognizable visual identity. That growing recognition is particularly interesting in an artist who is still building her career. Collecting her work means approaching a young language, decoratively powerful and already sufficiently defined to distinguish itself with ease: a quality particularly valuable in a contemporary scene where developing an individual voice is one of the greatest challenges for any emerging artist. Adri Q ultimately builds a cheerful, sophisticated, and lightly magical pictorial world: a place where everyday reality can transform into geometry, music, fantasy, and color. "This lot contains AI-generated visuals. Please consult the original photographs to verify the true condition of the work." This captivating acrylic-on-canvas painting embraces a neo-pop and illustrative aesthetic of great visual dynamism, where the musical scene comes alive through stylized shapes, defined outlines, and strongly contrasted flat color blocks. The composition brings together a jazz quartet — a saxophonist, a vocalist, a hat-wearing smuggling figure, and a pianist — enveloped in an intimate, nocturnal atmosphere enriched by intricate geometric patterns, polka dots, and organic textures in the background. The vibrant color palette, dominated by deep blues, fiery reds, warm yellows, and touches of elegant black, fragments the space into decorative planes that integrate details such as a coffee table with wine, vegetation, and a distant view of the sea under a full moon, masterfully conveying the rhythm, sophistication, and warmth of a live musical evening.
