ACKERMANN, MAX (1887-1975) "Abstrakte Komposition" 1972

| ACKERMANN, MAX (1887–1975), “Abstract Composition,” 1972 Pastel chalk on black paper. Signed and dated in pencil along the lower margin: “Ackermann 72.” Sheet size: approx. 23.5 × 31.5 cm. Frame size: approx. 37 × 45 cm. Vertically structured color composition on a dark ground. Characteristic of Max Ackermann’s late work, the piece is striking for the expressive contrast between two large cobalt-blue color fields and a central stele-like structure in red, yellow, white, and black. The interplay of geometric and organic formal elements reflects Ackermann’s lifelong exploration of translating musical rhythms into visual art. Good condition consistent with age, with the pastel pigments retaining their fresh luminosity. Framed behind glass in a period giltwood frame with a black inner edge. Unopened and not removed from the frame.
