Todas las subastas / Arte Antiguo / A six-panel Byōbu (屏風) folding screen depicting...
A Japanese six-panel screen (byōbu, 屏風) painted on silk with a gold background, depicting a lush spring garden. In the foreground, peonies (botan, 牡丹), irises (ayame, 菖蒲), dandelions, and other seasonal flowers bloom at the base of a large plum tree (ume, 梅), whose branches extend gracefully across the golden surface. The white and red blossoms of the plum symbolize renewal and the rebirth of nature. A wooden frame completes and protects the piece. Signed Kajino Genzan (1868–1939) and sealed in the lower right corner. The screen can also be easily mounted on a wall or used as a room divider. Byōbu (屏風), literally “wind protection screens,” are traditional Japanese folding screens originally created to divide spaces and today appreciated above all as striking wall-mounted paintings. ---The byobu is in good condition, with minor small holes along the hinges and a slightly discolored area. Please refer to the pictures for further details. The item will be carefully packed and shipped via DHL or FedEx, accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity issued by Mastromauro Japanese art gallery based in Milan, Italy. 381
