A. Simon (XIX-XX) - La romance du laboureur

Very beautiful scene of rural life where a young ploughman courts a young girl who has come to fetch water at the well. The drawing is somewhat naïve but rich in representation. The inspiration ranges from Millet to the Douanier Rousseau and speaks to us. Dated 1890, this work on a classical subject strikes us with its modernity.
