A Rare Coachman Maquette from "Pinocchio."

(Disney, 1940) A rare animator's maquette of the Coachman from "Pinocchio." Maquettes such as this were used by animators as a three-dimensional reference while animating the character. Constructed of plaster and hand-painted in the Character Model Department of the Studio, only a handful would be produced and distributed among the animators. Each piece was numbered, with this base bearing a "2" and the name "Bill Anderson." Measuring 5.5" tall and 4" in diameter, the maquette displays in very good condition with discoloration from age, visible repair to the cracked base, chipping on the base and the back of the head, and wear from production use.
